SAA is proud to announce that the JTC Space @ Tuas multi-disciplinary consultant team has recently won the BIM/VDC GoldPlus Award at the BCA BIM Awards 2017 (Project Category).
The team was able to achieve numerous benefits to improve productivity and minimize abortive works from the design stage through to construction. In the design phase, on top of using BIM for multi-disciplinary coordination, each consultant utilized BIM for their own specific uses such as parametric families for modeling and documenting a modularized facade, adoption of Dynamo scripts to generate the BIM structural model from ETABS, and 3rd party plug-ins to conduct performance lighting level calculations.
Noteworthy innovative practices adopted in the construction stage include automatic output of the bar bending schedules through modeling precast and reinforcement in BIM and also virtually planning the PPVC hoisting to address any potential collisions in advance. As the project moves closer to completion, the JTC Space @ Tuas team continues to strive for new ways to utilize BIM and looks forward for future opportunities and paths to innovate in BIM and VDC.
The Gold award winning projects will be featured in the Singapore Construction Productivity Week (SCPW) Exhibition BIM/VDC booth in Singapore Expo from 24 – 26 Oct 2017.
