Jem was awarded Universal Design Mark GoldPlus award for its inclusive design that enables the young, the old and persona with different abilities to access and enjoy the facilities in Jem with their loved ones.
The need for universal design was conceived at the onset of the project and included measures such as conducting consumer focus group studies to understand their needs and requirements, designing for family-friendly facilities to increase convenience of having toddlers at shopping malls and providing a comprehensive network of shelters and connecting walkways. These measures create a more accessible environment for all to enjoy and hence, caters for as many sectors of the community as possible.
