ONE KM was conceived as an important catalyst to the growing Commercial Hub under URA’s new Masterplan for Paya Lebar.

The genesis of the design is the introduction of an ‘Urban Plaza’ that opens up to the Geylang Road. Framing the ‘Urban Plaza’ is a bifurcated main entrance that is designed to create an open arm, welcoming gesture that draws people to the plaza and into the internal courts of the mall. The high volume canopy, with multimedia screen, create a landmark “Piazza” that generate activities and high profile events. The front entrance opens up to an ‘Urban Plaza’ that caters for public events. While the entrances fronting Haig Road and Tanjong Katong Road are envisage as a ‘Food Street’ and a ‘Fashion Boulevard’ respectively. Just above these entrances, a huge “display window” framed the facade displaying not only items on sale but also allowing a glimpse of the various activities that are happening in the mall.

In the residential apartment design, the notion of urban living which embraces variety and flexibility in the day to day environment and lifestyle of the occupant took center stage. The humble cube as a generator of space and form epitomizes urban living that is adaptable to different usage and changing lifestyle of the dwellers; from a single person to a family nucleus; from a singular living space to a partitioned bedroom. Outwardly these spaces are framed and expressed with simple lines which is contemporary and yet elegant.

As a mixed-use development, dwellers are spoilt with an array of amenities which sets the fresh standard of lifestyle living and edutainment for the whole family.
