The Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) connects eastern Singapore with the city centre and will serve 1 million commuters daily. A conscientious approach towards the design of the architectural form as one that does not impose on the site, retains the site character and brings out the latent qualities of the site that is gradually being overshadowed by urban intensification. Each zone will correspond to each station’s theme and will have a prominent landmark or icon using appropriate materials and form to embody the respective themes.
The overall design of the 10 mass rapid stations along the eastern region is intended to create an attractive environment for future development while augmenting the coastal flavour of the area.
